Bangkok Accommodation

....The following list of accommodation is just a selection of the choices available to trainees. The fact that the centre is located centrally, within easy reach of both the business and entertainment districts, means that hotels tend to be fairly expensive, especially those that are at the top of the range. From personal experience, mid-range hotels, as you'll see in the notes below, tend to be expensive for what they actually offer, but tend to have the advantage of being well located. Guesthouses are a second option, bargains can certainly be had and for the teacher-in-training-on-a-tight budget, the roof over your head may be all you require. Personally however, I might be tempted to go for one of the apartments on offer; the monthly rates certainly make the accommodation more affordable and the privacy that an apartment allows may just make the traveling time worth it.

Metropark Condominiums

Type : Studio / Two-bedroom Apartment

Price : 16,000 Baht (31m square metres) + 16,000 Baht Deposit / 24,000 Baht (58 square metres) + 24,000 Baht Deposit.

Prices are based upon a 4-week stay; from the Sunday prior to the course commencing to the Saturday after the course finishes. Extra nights are possible at the rate of 600 Baht per night for the studio, 1,000 Baht for the two-bedroom apartments-when available.
Location : Sathorn- a 20/25 minute shuttle bus ride from Surasak BTS Skytrain Station. Surasak station is just two stops away (4 minutes) from the training centre. Click here to see map.

Notes : Metropark offers brand ‘spanking' new apartments (both studio and 2-bedrooms) that are fully furnished and set within a complex that offers a swimming pool and other conveniently located facilities. Each apartment comes with a fridge, TV, DVD player, microwave, toaster, kettle etc and offers excellent value for money.These rooms also have a connection for you to be able to use Hi-speed internet with your laptop included in the price. Apartments are fully-serviced weekly (included in the cost- includes linen and towel change ++) - however bills are extra. Bills should not exceed 1,000 Baht for the studio apartments over the month (water and electric). Laundry facilities can also be arranged.

5 minutes walk to BTS skytrain station then 15 minutes by skytrain to IH centre

Lee Guesthouse

Type : Guesthouse
Price : 100-200 Baht/night

We haven't been to check this one out, but the price tells you quite a lot.This won't be luxury living. But if you are looking for the bare minimum, this might be right up your street!

Silom Avenue Inn

Type : Hotel
Price : 1,200 Baht (single ) 1,900 Baht (deluxe twin double bed room) per night
Location : 284/11-13, Soi Silom 22/1, Silom Road .
A 5-minute walk from the IH centre

The hotel has cable TV and was probably once one of the better hotels in the Silom area. As many mid-range hotels in Thailand are however, the carpeted rooms and furniture are showing signs of their age.

Charlie House

Type : Guesthouse
Price : 600 Baht per night / 12,000 Baht per month
Location : 1034/36-37 Soi Saphan Khu, Rama IV Rd. , Bangkok 10120 5 minutes by subway from the training centre plus a 10 minute walk before you're on the subway.

This guesthouse offers single rooms at a reasonable rate. Rooms have TV, are clean but are pretty cozy at 16m square.
